    San Francisco Attractions
    Alcatraz Island
Over the course of its history Alcatraz – known as The Rock – has been a Civil War fortress, infamous federal prison, bird sanctuary, the first lighthouse on the West Coast, and the birthplace of the Native American Red Power movement. Today, more than a million people come to Alcatraz each year to learn about the island's human history and to see its birds, tide pools and gardens. Numerous cruises take you around and to the island.
    Angel Island
Visit one of the last undeveloped islands left in the San Francisco Bay. Angel Island is maintained by the National Park Service and can be used for biking, hiking and picnics. Angel Island has served as a hunting ground for the Miwoks, a Civil War encampment, a quarantine station during the Spanish-American War, a discharge depot and recruitment processing center during World War I, an embarkation station and POW camp during World War II, an Immigration Station often referred to as "The Ellis Island of the West" from 1910 through 1940 and a Nike Missile Base from 1955 to 1962.
    Chinatown
The largest and oldest Chinatown inside of North America offers 24 blocks of hustle and bustle, most of it taking place along Grant, the oldest street in San Francisco. This city within a city is best explored on foot; exotic shops, food markets, temples and small museums comprise its boundaries and you will find herbal remedies, samples at tea bars, a "dim sum" lunch and fortune cookies being made.
    Fisherman’s Wharf
San Francisco’s #1 tourist attraction is home to world-class dining, shopping and endless entertainment opportunities. Fisherman’s Wharf is truly the place to start your San Francisco trip. As the home of San Francisco's fishing fleet, docked along Jefferson Street, Fisherman's Wharf is the important center of our city's historic fishing industry. Along our neighborhood's "Fish Alley" you can still see fishermen at work, which will enhance your San Francisco experience.
    Golden Gate Park
Golden Gate Park is San Francisco’s largest park, covering 1,013 acres. Take a picnic, try fly fishing, see the buffalo, rent a bike or skates or even play golf. While there, visit the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden, San Francisco Botanical Garden, the de Young Museum and the new California Academy of Sciences, or even pedal a boat on Stow Lake – all within the boundaries of this landmark park.
